In-Season Internship Job Description
JDL Fast Track is searching for candidates to serve as an In-Season Intern. The position will be a full-time, paid position with a proposed start date in November 2024 and ending date in early March 2025. Compensation will be on an hourly basis with opportunities for overtime during the heart of the season.
The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing and organizational skills, as they will be responsible for a range of duties from high level planning and coordination, communication with coaches, on-site meet management. One of the most important attributes will be a love for track and field, as well as lots of ambition.
Hours are variable with many weekends and weeknight hours required during the indoor season.
This position is a great fit for sports management majors looking to gain valuable experience from an events facility or for former track and field athletes who may be taking a year off before transitioning to graduate school.
Candidates with the following skill sets may be given preference in the interview process: Ø Computer programming and networking · Candidates with IT backgrounds may lead any IT-related projects, upgrades and spearhead troubleshooting of network-related issues. Ø Graphic design · Candidates who are proficient with Adobe Illustrator or similar programs may assist with graphic communications and marketing materials. Ø Meet Management · Candidates who have experience with FinishLynx, Hy-Tek, MeetPro or Direct Athletics registration system. Ø Sports marketing/sponsorships Ø Video production Ø Prior sports facility experience Ø Expert in FinishLynx and/or Hy-Tek software
Knowledge and experience with track and field rules and meet management is not necessary, but preferred.
The duties for the position include:
o Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Access to update meet information packets, meet schedules, etc. o Assist with retail operations, including ticket sales, concessions and merchandise sales o Work with facility director and maintenance to ensure facility is clean and ready for meets o Manage packet pickup area and serve as point of contact for event-day registration and payment questions o Coordinate hotel accommodations for timing staff and out of town officials o Assist with scheduling of university practice times o Update website with meet schedules, performance lists, live results, final results, facility records, etc. o Assist in elite athlete coordination for Camel City races o Serve in meet logistics and preparation for national championship meets hosted at JDL Fast Track o Assist with marketing and advertising efforts to generate additional revenue for JDL Fast Track
